day 9

i'm still surviving!!!

Saturday

I SURVIVED DAY 5

and yes saturday IS day 5.
i felt like work was like working in a sweat shop. there was no lunch for us cos the buyer had not enough money. we worked under sweltering heat that even the rain was the best thing that ever happened today. we had to make HUUUGGGEE props in 45 minutes. they might not even use them. but i am so far, still enjoying things.
i was sort of scolded for coming 10 minutes late. i feel sooo threatened. any mistake and my head is at the chopping board. esp the butterfly.

tomorrow would be my day 6 of work. 9pm reporting time. i am so dead tired now, i dont know ho to resurrect myself tmr morning.

pray for me for strength. i really need it.
My art was featured in
http://www.culturepush.com/

they told me to send a biography. i was like, bio as in what? things i like? like fav food etc? things i have done? so i sent them random infoa bt me plus my portfolio. end up i sound like i was boasting.

It is rewritten like this:

Melvin Tan is a visual artist who doesn’t adopt any particular style. He prefers to work in collages by just combining different elements together. ” I feel that art is not a talent, but an “eye” - what you see is not what someone else sees – and by seeing things differently, I do what I do today, constantly bringing out the child in me when working on my art.”

ISOUND WEIRD!!

Melvin is always looking forward to paint, draw, or do something aesthetic, but he also believes he can live without making art. “Art isn’t a vital part of my existence,” he adds. “I can not do it at all, but there will always be this urge or tickle to create, craft or draw something somewhere.”

I SOUND CONFUSEDDD!!!!

“I was approached by Noise Singapore during the Singapore Youth Festival, and was commissioned to create site-specific works and shoe designs. I have also designed posters for MOE and the Singapore Navy, published short stories in a book, designed book covers, won Gold with Honors at the Singapore Youth Festival in 2008, and I was also selected for the ASEAN/MOE Young Artists Exhibition in 2006.”

I SOUND LIKE I WAS BOASTING!!!

I feel sad.

i survived day 4 in hoodsinc!!

yes i survived!
okay i shall not say here about how i feel about the king, queen and princess which i serve respectively, BUT i will tell you that hoods inc did shows like singapore idol, teenage textbook, pck, under one roof, front, etc. and they are really really demanding on the interns and i survived day 4! 3 more days and i will beat kw(lasted 7 days).
i have to return tomorrow(sad but true) and sunday. NO REST. production for cosmoandgeorgie2 begins monday. rush!
their portfolio is what make me stay in their company.
well also that they could write a good testimonial WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT before DesignScholarship closesit's date to submit. I'm sure their credentials can make their selections in my favour.
WISH ME LUCK.
PRAY FOR ME FOR STRENGTH.
and 'sucking-up' power.

Some people say they like my writing, i shall post more randoms from mr and mrs jones!
Part of the story, a flashback of the parents of Jessica. why they are who they are now. mrs jones is having an affair with a younger man. this extract simply is written to prove that it was mrs jones who advanced and it led all the way to their subsequent marriage. Jordaine was sexually abused by his coach and had a deep trauma, making him confused during his coming of age period.  later on, discovering the human bodies with Jasmine, he gets back on the right track. but andrew, mrs jone's affair, would eventually be a spark that made him recall and ignite feelings of his past.

just trying to show ppl that mr and mrs jones is not all abt lust and stuff that there is heart in everything and everything has their reasons and then also consequences. yup.

In the restaurant overlooking the huge field of carpet grass sat the two families over an afternoon tea.

No one had afternoon teas. Let alone accompanied by other families. Jordaine, then 21, braced himself for the worst.

Jordaine Jones sat sullenly at the side, disinterested and disconnected with the rest. Clad in a blue and white striped polo, his head and arm was propped on the handrail beside their table.

“Jordaine is an exceptional rugby player in Mississippi High back in the states. School player.”

“Wow that’s impressive Don’t you think so jasmine dearie?”

Jasmine, then 20, blushed and looked to her hands under the table.

“My dear boy studies economics business and social sciences once in a while. Aces at them.”

“Social sciences? Isn’t that like psychology? Just like Jessica! The two of you are a match made in the heaven of heavens. The two of you should get to know each other more.”

“I couldn’t agree more.” Jordaine’s mother said as she held her sleeve of her other hand that was plopping brown sugar cubes into her son’s tea that remained untouched.

“And besides he is a very dashing young man I must say.”

“Oh yes my son is very handsome. Girls back there just adore him. Of course he was smart not to mix around with those type of girls who- ”

“-Mother!”

“Yes son?”

“Stop it.” He still did not look at the party of people.

“Mum. Aunty. I think me and Jordaine got it,” Somehow saying his name for the first time did make her tingle a bit, “We know what you mothers are pushing at and we will try to get to know each other. As friends. First.” Then she looked at Jordaine whose head was tilted away but not his ear, “Well then we will just have to see if anything erm, favourable, happens and only time will tell.”

Jasmine breathed for the first time.

“My dear sweet Miss Jasmine. We are certainly not imposing anything.” Mrs jones lied blatantly through her teeth.

Jasmine’s mother nodded her head along with Jordaine’s mother.

There was a silence, as if waiting for Jordaine to finally chip in or at least look front but he did not budge.

“Well then. Mrs Jones, we’ll just leave the both of them here for the rest of the afternoon while we go-”

“-do old people things far away from here.” Jordaine’s mother added.

There was a tensed silence across the table where the two youths sat.

Jordaine scratched his head while Jasmine traced the lines on her palms on the table.

“I’m sorry about my folks. They want me to –mix- with what they deem as the right crowd.”

Jordaine was still unhappy about the whole thing. He was also visibly not interested in her presence at all. Jessica was affected. She told herself she would sit here for another 5 minutes. If he continues this silent attitude, she would leave for he would not be worth her efforts to please herself let alone her parents.

Deep in Jordaine’s silent decorum, he knew he wasn’t attracted to her. but due to surmounting parental pressure, he shut his eyes and decided to give his entire soul to someone he would have easily overlooked.

“I’m sorry. Just- I had a bad day. Please forgive me, Jasmine.”

The way his accent accentuated her name made her smile.

“No. Don’t be sorry. It’s fine really.” She paused searching for his eyes, “You parents just did what they think is best you whether you like it or not. I’m sick of that myself.”

“They aren’t happy with me. Never had a girlfriend for the past 5 years and they are desperate to get me to find some one soon so that they can live to see a grandchild.”

“Talk about it!” She laughed. She realised his eyes were a deep green. His features flowed and formed in her head the likeness of a greek god. He was indisputably handsome.

Her calmness drew him. He realised her hand had actually found it’s place on his and somehow, his fingers had curled onto hers too.

Sunday

my new photography project

First of all condolences to my pal kaywee who got fired from his job today i REALLY ERALLY HONESTLY feel very very very sad about it for you. Yup.

My first try at editing a normal photo into lomo. sorry i know it's just my face being warped and decolourised, but i have just explored photoshop deeper and found new effects i can use to make photographs look like it came straight from a artsy magazine.
I was hoping to get people to send me their mugshots.

(Face must be against a white background with flash but without smile.)I will edit them and make them like a lomo shot, for FREE.I will send it back to you and you can feel free to do whatever you want to do with it.

If you don't send i will come to you. so be prepared to be paparazzied by me. i am sick of using my own face to experiment with photoshop. it's not being vain and all but i just enjoy photographing people

Tomorrow is the last day to chiong. i have not completed my finishing touches, the perfectionist i am.
